Pumpkin is back!

Pumpkin is discussed in I See….Awake!, chapter 13. Even her picture is there.

She is a stuffed toy cat a sweet little girl gave me because she knew I was allergic to cats.

Several years ago I had a granddaughter that was ill. The Spirit told me to bless the stuffed cat before I gave it to her so I would absorb anything of a negative nature that was causing my granddaughter’s illness. I silently did so and handed her the cat, and asked her to name it.

Her fever was gone the next morning, her appetite came back, and she got better.

Another little 16 month old granddaughter has been ill for a while. Sunday I was told by Spirit to get Pumpkin and do what had been done for the other granddaughter, who actually is her sister.

Pumpkin came out of “retirement” and guess who is now a whole lot better. You got it.

We also discussed in that chapter Joseph Smith’s red handkerchief, his talisman, and a “magical” stone he used to see things in the past and future, called a seer stone. The same stone helped him interpret ancient writing on golden plates.

These things have precedent, even anciently. You can figure that one out or read the chapter.

I have a good friend that was given a red neckerchief that had been blessed and consecrated.

A while later she had a severe pain on her body that just wouldn’t go away. It hurt so much she couldn’t sleep. She actually drove her car twice that night because it has heated seats, hoping the heat would help ease the pain. It didn’t.

She tried all kinds of things to ease the pain and nothing worked.

Finally she remembered this blessed neckerchief and figured what the heck. She put it on the spot where her pain was and guess what, it went away. Wow.

From Wilford Woodruff’s journal:

“When we left Brother Noble, the Prophet went, with those accompanied from the other side, to the banks of the river, to return home.

While waiting for the ferryboat, a man of the world, knowing of the miracles which had been performed, came to him and asked him if he would go and heal two twin children of his, about five months old, who were lying sick nigh unto death.

They were some two miles from Montrose.

The Prophet said he could not go; but, after pausing some time, he said he would send someone to heal them; and he turned to me and said: ‘You go with the man and heal his children.’

He took a red silk handkerchief out of his pocket and gave it to me, and told me to wipe their faces with the handkerchief when I administered to them, and they should be healed. He also said to me: ‘As long as you will keep that handkerchief, it shall remain a league between you and me.’

I went with the man, and did as the Prophet commanded me, and the children were healed.”

From Paul in the New Testament in the Book of Acts:

“And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.” (Acts 19:11-12)

I am grateful for Pumpkin. Actually I am grateful for our Lord Jesus Christ and his grace in healing, especially little children. Does it hurt Him when they suffer?

A long time ago I was doing a book review in Orem, Utah. At the review was a woman that raised her hand to comment. She told the room that she had found out that her daughter had been abused by her husband for many years. She was quite upset about it, for good reason I’m thinking.

Her daughter told her, “Mom, it’s okay. Every time Dad did those awful things to me, Jesus came and held me. He let me catch His tears with my hands.”

He does care and love. He allowed two little girls to hug a stuffed toy cat that had been blessed and consecrated for healing where chances are they wouldn’t have hugged a handkerchief.

I’m grateful for Pumpkin, but I’m a whole lot more grateful for our Lord Jesus Christ and His atonement, His healing, His love.
