Doug Tales 148: Head in the Sand

“If any of you need some shampoo, let me know” is how Doug Mendenhall concludes this email from June 16, 2017 which he titled, “Head in the Sand.” He talks about us ignoring or neglecting what is in front of us (and figuratively putting our heads in the sand out of fear). What are each of us really open and teachable about, and who are we listening to and following?

I am sending this out on a Friday because like the Government I know that no one pays attention to what is put out on a weekend. God bless weekends!

Over a decade ago I was told to take my daughter, Denise, on a “tour” where she would talk about future events that she had been shown. One of the areas we went to was Arizona where we held several meetings. One particular meeting was held at a very large home with many people in attendance. Some of the things she talked about coming were the extreme weather conditions. She told them if they thought their 115 degree heat was hot, they hadn’t seen anything yet. She also mentioned winds up to three hundred miles per hour that would come. Should be about 120 degrees this weekend in the Phoenix area. New records everywhere for heat and cold this past year.

A while later I took several sighted women on a speaking tour and we went to this same home. The woman of the house sat us down and said that the last time I had come with my daughter, Denise, she spoke of terrible things that were coming. She told these sighted women that she would have none of that in her home, that the women were allowed to only speak of “good” things. If I’d been smart I would have cancelled the presentation right then and there. There’s nothing like a little bit of compulsion and control is there, yet it was her home. Just when you’ve already inhibited the Spirit, will it come? Just wondering. In the previous meeting she had wanted Denise to come and talk about her NDE, not future events. She said she hadn’t realized we were there to talk about future events. I guess we were lucky that these sighted women I had brought there was there to only talk about the “good” stuff…

Didn’t the Lord tell a prophet anciently to not worry, it wasn’t him (the prophet), that Israel was rejecting, it was the Lord God? Are we any different? What if the Lord Jesus Christ sent a prophet or, heaven forbid, a prophetess, to us in these days, as He has done over and over anciently, to warn us. And what if we, like so many of those anciently, rejected that prophet or prophetess? Would we be rejecting our Lord Jesus Christ along with the man or woman He had sent?

I realize that there are people who prefer to keep their head in the sand and not know what is going on or they are so into judgment you can hardly share anything with them because that judgment would only serve to condemn them. If you find your hair has a lot of sand in it or if you are prone to judgment, I’d delete this email immediately. I wouldn’t want to cause any scalp issues or cause any judgmental condemnation to occur to any of you.

In all ages of the past and even currently the Lord Jesus Christ sends “sighted” people to testify, teach, share, and explain things that many of the rest of us can’t see, won’t see, don’t get, or even understand. Many call these people that come speaking by the Spirit and doing what He says, “prophets” and if they happen to be of the female variety they would be called, dare I even say the word again, a “prophetess.”  Apparently, it doesn’t matter to the Lord God how old they are, what gender they are, what they look like, their education or lack thereof, as long as they declare what He tells them to say.

From my observations, most of them are very reluctant to share. Why? Because they, of all people, understand if what the Lord Jesus Christ has told them to share is refused, it will condemn the person or people. It not only damns them, meaning it stops their progressing, but it condemns them to time in hell unless they repent. You don’t believe that? Just wait until you transition and see whose angels meet you. I know from past experience with my daughter that she was always scared to offend people. She was a child and didn’t have the maturity/guts to tell people how it is. She still doesn’t; she doesn’t want to offend. I am glad she has kind of retired and is just living her life.

I can’t tell you how many people would come to our home and want face time with her. “Denise, I’ve been working on a project for years now and I feel my ship is going to come in any day now. When it does, I’m going to purchase a home for you and your family. Is my ship coming in Denise?”

“Yes,” she answered. He left our home quite happy

After he left I asked her why she said that his ship would come in? I told her she knew it was wrong, that it wouldn’t. “I said what Jesus wanted me to say, Dad. The man needs to learn to go to God for his answers and not me.” Three days later his ship sunk.

Guess who got the phone call from a very mad man about his ship sinking and losing everything? It wasn’t her. All I could say to him was to ask why in the world would he come to an eleven-year-old to ask what he should have gone to God the Father with? He agreed and apologized.

He was one of the few to get it. A woman came to the house about this same time and asked her if she should divorce her husband. To my horror, Denise said, “Yes, you should.”

The next day I got a call from a very mad husband who wanted to know why Denise would tell his wife such a thing. He was livid. I asked him why in the world would his wife come to our house to ask such a question of an eleven year old? Spiritual sight or not. He also agreed what his wife did was wrong.

Is it we seem to want the easy way? “Tell me, Denise. Tell me, Kitten. Tell me, (insert the name of the latest ‘oracle’ of the week here).” We seem to want them to speak of what we perceive as the “good stuff.” Leave that prophetess or prophet stuff in the scriptures. No wonder many of these gifted walk away or don’t want to talk or present, or write books, or expose themselves in any way.

The Lord Jesus Christ sends prophets in all ages. Many times it is to call His people to repentance. He did so in our day a few years ago. Was this prophet rejected by “God’s people?” Of course he was. Hasn’t that been the pattern in all ages? But not with us, we say, we’re different. We’re God’s chosen people. That wouldn’t happen with us! They even kicked him out of the club they had formed, all the while he was told he was worthy of a temple recommend and had done nothing wrong. Does this seem right to you? Or do you need to brush that sand out of your hair?

Want to read an amazing book? Yes? Okay, it is called The Second Comforter: Conversing with the Lord Through the Veil. It is a witness from a prophet sent by the Lord Jesus Christ who did it. He just didn’t pierce the veil, he went all the way and was redeemed by the Lord Jesus Christ. Have you gone to your knees in humble prayer, without any judgment, and asked your Father if this is true? Because if it is, this just might be important stuff to read. If it is true, it means you have a real important decision to make. You can read his ten talks he gave if you want or his other books. There is much to learn. But it might be important to revisit this one book because it is a blueprint of how to do it. If you have read it and don’t understand that concept or idea, then you really haven’t read it. And for sure you haven’t done it. As I’ve stated over and over, I know of two fully redeemed people on this continent. And he is one of them.

More than a few have told me, “I’ve read that book. Good book.” And that’s it! I know then that they don’t get it and will keep looking for the newest “oracle” to come along and want only good stuff presented, things they already know and accept. You know that is what many people want, isn’t it? Come and present, but make sure it is something I already know and accept, or it complies with my preconceived ideas, dogmas, and teachings. Or don’t come and present.

I’m in the “Being and Doing” chapter right now in his book. It is amazing how it correlates to what Kitten and I were told to write about becoming Unconsciously Competent. It is a wonderful chapter, well worth reading.

Since some here are sports fans here is an example about Kevin Durant that plays for the Warriors, who did win the NBA title. (No, I don’t watch any of it, just was told to read this article.) His teammate, Curry, is talking about how after Durant signed with the Warriors for this year it took a while for them to “mesh” as a team and then how playing together became second nature. Just as this prophet from the Lord Jesus Christ is trying to teach us to do with the Gospel in the book he was told to write, The Second Comforter:

“Even those who hated Durant’s decision can’t question how it has worked out for him when watching how well he and the Warriors have meshed.

“It took a while for it to kind of reveal itself consistently as the regular season went on, but once it clicked and the habits started to become second nature, it was kind of beautiful to watch and an amazing kind of style to play and watch unfold,” Curry said. “So it’s been fun.”

Why is it so fun? Probably because they are playing at a level where they don’t think about it; they aren’t thinking about “doing.” They are just “being” and reacting to what is presented to them on the floor. That means they are playing at a very high level, and that is just plain fun. What would it be like to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ this way? No mind control, no brain washing, just at a level of “being” with our Lord Jesus Christ and doing what He says. Would it soon become second nature to us?

If any of you need some shampoo, let me know. I’ve got several partial bottles from the hotels I’ve stayed in. Otherwise, it might behoove us to have an open mind and heart while we listen to those the Lord God as sent to warn, teach, and help us. The alternative isn’t that pleasant.

Hope you have a great Father’s Day. My mortal Father is gone, but I will thank him anyway and also my Father in Heaven for being in my life and teaching me. My goal is to make my Lord Jesus Christ my Father also. If you don’t understand that, you’ve got some studyin’ to do.
